The Pedhatzur family, owners of the gallery's building, is one of Zefat's (Safed) oldest and most prominent families. The family's history is closely linked with the city and many of it's members were influential leaders in this community. Moshe Pedhatzur, a charismatic leader, was the first mayor after the founding of the state in 1948. He was born and raised in this very house, as were his father and grandfather before him .
